Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner each hit home runs as the Philadelphia Phillies won a 16-9 slugfest over the visiting Atlanta Braves in spring training action Thursday at Clearwater, Fla.

Bryson Stott and Max Kepler also hit home runs for the Phillies, while left-hander Cristopher Sanchez (1-0) picked up the win by allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts over four innings.

The Phillies had a 9-1 lead after three innings in an early stretch that included Turner's first home run of the spring and the first from Schwarber, a three-run shot in the second.

Conner Capel drove in a pair of runs for the Braves, while Cody Milligan also had two RBIs off the bench. Atlanta right-hander Anderson Pilar (0-1) was rocked for seven runs on four hits with three walks while recording just three outs.

Astros 10, Marlins 5

Cesar Salazar hit a grand slam and drove in five runs while Brendan Rodgers had a three-run double among his two hits and finished with four RBIs as visiting Houston got past Miami at Jupiter, Fla.

Rodgers' three-run double and Salazar's grand slam came in an eight-run first inning for the Astros. Houston right-hander Ronel Blanco (1-1) was far from sharp, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits over 3 2/3 innings.

Eric Wagaman hit a home run and Jesus Sanchez had two hits with an RBI for the Marlins, who saw Edward Cabrera and Joseph Bierman combine to give up the Astros' eight first-inning runs. Cabrera (0-2) gave up three runs without recording an out.

Red Sox 3, Mets 2

David Hamilton opened the game with a home run and had two hits and left-hander Sean Newcomb (1-0) went three scoreless innings as visiting Boston defeated New York at Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Romy Gonzalez also had two hits for the Red Sox while scoring the deciding run when he stole third base and came home on an error by catcher Chris Williams.

Nick Roselli's single in the eighth inning brought home two runs for the Mets, who saw starter David Peterson (1-1) last 3 2/3 innings with one of his two runs unearned after an error by Brett Baty.

Blue Jays 6, Orioles 4

Daulton Varsho hit a home run and drove in three runs, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had two hits with an RBI as Toronto defeated visiting Baltimore at Dunedin, Fla.

Varsho's home run came in a four-run fifth inning when Guerrero and Bo Bichette added RBI singles. Left-handed swingman Ryan Yarbrough (2-0) went two perfect innings for Toronto.

Nick Gordon and Vimael Machin each had RBI doubles for the Orioles, while left-hander Cade Povich (1-1) was roughed up for five runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Yankees 8, Tigers 6

Jasson Dominguez and Paul Goldschmidt each hit home runs as New York scored seven runs over the fourth and fifth innings and held on for the victory over host Detroit at Lakeland, Fla.

Goldschmidt had two hits with four RBIs and left-hander Max Fried (1-0) gave up one run on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Gleyber Torres had a home run among his two hits for the Tigers against his former team, while right-hander Jackson Jobe (1-1) gave up three runs (two earned) over 3 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.

Twins 15, Pirates 3

Jose Miranda had three hits with four RBIs and Edouard Julien added three hits with three RBIs as visiting Minnesota turned a nine-run sixth inning into the victory over Pittsburgh at Fort Myers, Fla.

DaShawn Keirsey Jr. had two hits with two RBIs for the Twins, while starter Bailey Ober (2-0) allowed three hits over five scoreless innings.

Darick Hall and Matt Gorski each hit ninth-inning home runs for the Pirates, while right-hander Jared Jones (0-1) gave up one run over 4 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.

Rays 14, Nationals 4

Coco Montes hit a grand slam and Brandon Lowe added a home run as Tampa Bay scored five runs in the fourth inning and seven in the fifth to rout visiting Washington at Port Charlotte, Fla.

Taylor Walls had a three-run double for the Rays, while Shane Baz (1-0) picked up the win despite giving up four runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings.

James Wood and CJ Abrams each hit home runs for the Nationals for an early 4-0 lead before the game got away. Washington left-hander DJ Herz opened by allowing one run over three innings, before right-hander Brad Lord (0-1) was roughed up for eight runs on seven hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning.

Cardinals 1, Astros 1

Lars Nootbaar had an RBI triple and left-hander Steven Matz gave up one run over 4 2/3 innings as visiting St. Louis played Houston's split squad to the tie at West Palm Beach, Fla.

Yordan Alvarez had an RBI single and right-hander Spencer Arrighetti gave up one run over three innings for the Astros.

Right-hander AJ Blubaugh went three scoreless innings in relief for Houston, while Kyle Leahy went two scoreless innings in relief for St. Louis.

Royals 6, Padres 5

Joey Weimer started a four-run rally in the ninth inning with a three-run homer and Kansas City scored the game-winning run on an error to slip past visiting San Diego at Surprise, Ariz.

Harold Castro had two hits while starter Daniel Lynch IV gave up three runs on five hits over a four-inning start.

Mason McCoy hit a home run and Luis Arraez had two hits with two RBIs for San Diego, who leaned into two pitchers for the majority of the game. Right-handers Yu Darvish and Stephen Kolek each gave up one run over four innings.

Rockies 6, Guardians 4

Jacob Stallings hit two home runs and drove in four runs while Jordan Beck added a homer as Colorado held on to defeat visiting Cleveland at Scottsdale, Ariz.

Nick Martini had three hits, while top pitching prospect Chase Dollander (1-2) gave up two hits over four scoreless innings.

Dom Nunez hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning after Jhonkensy Noel had a two-run single as the Guardians' late rally fell short. Luis Ortiz (0-3) gave up four runs over 3 2/3 innings.

Rangers 7, Giants 3

Adolis Garcia and Alejandro Osuna each hit home runs and starter Patrick Murphy went three scoreless innings as visiting Texas defeated San Francisco at Scottsdale, Ariz.

Wyatt Langford and Nick Ahmed each had two hits for the Rangers, who overcame a 2-1 deficit with six runs over the final five innings.

Patrick Bailey had a two-run double for the Giants, while starter Robbie Ray gave up two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings.

Athletics 12, Reds 1

The visiting A's got their offense going late and could not stop with 11 runs in the ninth inning to roll past Cincinnati at Goodyear, Ariz.

Alejo Lopez, Jhonny Pereda and Jared Dickey each delivered run-scoring doubles in the ninth for the A's, who received a strong 5 1/3 innings from left-hander JP Sears (one run on four hits, three strikeouts).

Jeimer Candelario had an RBI single for the Reds, who were otherwise held in check on offense with five hits. Left-hander Nick Lodolo had six strikeouts over four scoreless innings.
