Grace VanSlooten compiled 16 points and 10 rebounds, leading No. 24 Michigan State to a 66-49 win over No. 15 Ole Miss in the championship game of the Cherokee (N.C.) Invitational on Monday.
Isaline Alexander added 14 points and Rashunda Jones had 13 as the Spartans (11-1) won their third game in a row.
The Rebels (12-2) had a four-game winning streak end as they got double-figure scoring only from Cotie McMahon, who put up 13 points.
Ole Miss struggled with its long-range shooting, going 2-for-17. Both Sira Thienou and Debreasha Powe finished 1-for-5 from 3-point range. Michigan State made 5 of 8 3-point shots and hit 49% from the floor overall.
No. 8 Oklahoma 126, North Carolina Central 54
Zya Vann scored 21 points and added 10 rebounds, six steals and three blocks to help the Sooners break the program record for points in a game during a trouncing of the Eagles in Norman, Okla.
It marked career highs in points, rebounds and blocks for Vann, who shot 8 of 11 from the floor. She was one of eight Sooners to score in double figures as Oklahoma (12-1) broke the record of 122 points set last season against Western Carolina.
Aaliyah Chavez had 20 points, seven assists and five steals for the Sooners, and Sahara Williams pitched in 16 points and seven rebounds. Aniya Finger paced North Carolina Central (2-10) with 17 points and five rebounds off the bench. The Eagles committed 29 turnovers that Oklahoma converted into 36 points.
No. 19 Ohio State 95, Western Michigan 47
Elsa Lemmila came off the bench to score a season-high 15 points as the Buckeyes battered the Broncos in Columbus, Ohio.
Kylee Kitts produced 14 points and nine rebounds while Jaloni Cambridge also scored 14 points as Ohio State (11-1) earned its ninth victory in a row. Chance Gray chipped in with 13 points, Kennedy Cambridge added 10.
Alli Carlson put up a season-best 15 points for Western Michigan (3-7). The Broncos shot just 27.3% from the floor and 3 of 10 from the foul line.
No. 23 Tennessee 89, Southern Indiana 44
The Lady Vols scored the last six points of the first half and the first five of the second half, opening a double-digit lead before pulling away from the Screaming Eagles in Knoxville, Tenn.
Nya Robertson amassed 20 points as Tennessee (8-3) shook off a Saturday loss to then-No. 16 Louisville. Mia Pauldo added 19 points for the Lady Vols, and Alyssa Latham notched 10 points.
Ali Saunders scored 14 points and Chloe Gannon had 11 for Southern Indiana (8-3). The Screaming Eagles were within eight points with just over three minutes left in the second quarter before Tennessee's decisive surge.
No. 25 Princeton 87, Temple 77
Madison St. Rose poured in 22 points, Skye Belker had 19 and the host Tigers defeated the Owls.
Both teams finished 30 of 60 from the field, and Temple wound up with 12 3-pointers to Princeton's nine. But the Tigers separated themselves with 18-for-20 free-throw shooting compared to Temple's 5-for-12 showing. Toby Nweke scored 15 points off the bench and Ashley Chea netted 10 as Princeton (12-1) led by as many as 26 points in the final six minutes before calling off the dogs.
Kaylah Turner had a career day by hitting 8 of 12 shots from 3-point distance and scoring 36 points for Temple (6-6).
