Michael King allowed just two hits and one walk in his first career complete game Sunday as the San Diego Padres blanked the visiting Colorado Rockies 6-0, becoming the first team in eight years to sweep a three-game series with shutouts.King retired the first 13 men he faced before Michael Toglia singled with one out in the fifth, then issued a two-out walk to Hunter Goodman in the eighth. Ezequiel Tovar singled in the ninth, but that was it for Colorado's offense as it became the first team since the 2017 Kansas City Royals (versus Cleveland) to be shut out in every game of a three-game series.King (3-0) fanned eight and Jose Iglesias went 2-for-2 with two RBIs as San Diego won its fourth straight and improved to 10-0 at home. Its 13-3 record ties the 1998 team, which won the National League pennant, for the best start in franchise history. It was also the first time in franchise history the Padres had swept a three-game series without yielding a run.Kyle Freeland (0-3) lasted five innings for the Rockies, allowing eight hits and five runs with two walks and two strikeouts. He ran into two-out trouble in the first, when the Padres collected four runs to decide the issue early.

Red Sox 3, White Sox 1

Garrett Crochet allowed one run on one hit in 7 1/3 innings and Trevor Story homered and drove in three runs to help Boston defeat host Chicago White.

Crochet (2-1) didn't surrender a hit until Chase Meidroth -- one of four players the White Sox acquired when they traded Crochet to the Red Sox in December -- poked a single just past shortstop Story with one out in the eighth inning. Crochet, who struck out 11 and walked one, retired the first 15 batters he faced. Brooks Baldwin became Chicago's first baserunner when he led off the sixth with a walk.

Story had three hits in the game, including a two-run double off White Sox starter Shane Smith in the sixth inning and a solo home run against Bryse Wilson in the ninth. Smith (0-1) limited Boston to two runs on five hits in six innings. He struck out three and walked two.

Giants 5, Yankees 4

Jung Hoo Lee hit two homers and drove in four runs as visiting San Francisco came back to earn the win over New York on Sunday afternoon and claim the franchise's first series win at Yankee Stadium.

Lee capped his first career multi-homer game with a three-run shot off Yankees starter Carlos Rodon in the sixth to give the Giants a 4-3 lead. Giants starter Logan Webb (2-0) settled down after a rocky start to allow three runs on five hits in five innings. Ryan Walker threw a perfect ninth for the save.

Rodon (1-3) allowed four runs on three hits in 5 2/3 innings. The left-hander struck out eight and walked three. Jazz Chisholm Jr. snapped an 0-for-24 streak by homering in the eighth to pull the Yankees within 5-4.

Reds 4, Pirates 0

Hunter Greene threw seven shutout innings and retired the final 17 batters he faced, while Santiago Espinal went 2-for-4 and broke a scoreless tie to lead Cincinnati to a win and a three-game sweep of visiting Pittsburgh.

Greene (2-1) struck out eight and walked one while allowing just two hits Sunday. He extended his scoreless innings to 19, lowered his ERA to 0.98 and earned his first career win against the Pirates.

Espinal broke a scoreless tie in the third when he served a soft line drive to right-center to score Austin Wynns and TJ Friedl with the first two runs off Pittsburgh starter Carmen Mlodzinski (1-2). The right-hander was charged with four runs and five hits over 4 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking two.

Royals 4, Guardians 2

Cole Ragans struck out 10 over a career-best 7 2/3 innings and Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer as visiting Kansas City salvaged the finale of its three-game series with Cleveland.

Ragans (1-0) retired 18 of the last 19 batters he faced and didn't issue a walk. He joined Kevin Appier (1996) as the only pitchers in Royals history to strike out 10-plus in three straight starts. Maikel Garcia went 3-for-4 with a two-run double and Kyle Isbel also had three hits and scored a run.

Daniel Schneemann doubled and drove in a run for Cleveland, which had a five-game win streak snapped. Ben Lively (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out five.

Mariners 3, Rangers 1

Cal Raleigh homered for a third consecutive game since switching to a 'torpedo' bat as host Seattle completed a three-game sweep of American League West rival Texas.

The Mariners won their fourth straight and went 5-1 on a six-game homestand against division rivals Houston and Texas. Seattle ace Logan Gilbert (1-1) earned his first win, allowing one run on three hits over five innings, with one walk and seven strikeouts. Seattle reliever Andres Munoz struck out a pair in the ninth to earn his sixth save.

Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (1-2) took the loss. He gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits in five-plus innings, with no walks and three strikeouts. Dustin Harris hits first homer of the season for Texas' lone run.

Marlins 11, Nationals 4

Matt Mervis slugged a three-run, pinch-hit home run as host Miami defeated Washington to take two out of three in the series.

Mervis slugged a 411-foot homer in the seventh to push the Marlins' lead to 7-3. Kyle Stowers went 3-for-5 with three runs and a two-run double in the Marlins' four-run eighth. Xavier Edwards extended his hitting streak to seven games and owns a .385 average (10 of 26) during that span.

Marlins starter Cal Quantrill allowed three runs on seven hits and five walks in five innings before Ronny Henriquez (1-0) pitched a perfect sixth to get the win. Nationals starter MacKenzie Gore (1-2) struck out seven in six innings, but allowed four runs to spike his ERA from 2.65 to 3.52. Keibert Ruiz, Luis Garcia Jr. and Jacob Young posted two hits apiece.

Rays 8, Braves 3

Junior Caminero went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and Joe Boyle threw five no-hit innings as Tampa Bay never trailed against visiting Atlanta.

Boyle (1-0) retired the first 13 hitters he faced before allowing two runs -- both unearned -- while striking out seven and walking two. Yandy Diaz also homered for Tampa Bay, which took two of three from Atlanta.

Chris Sale (0-2) allowed six hits on four runs (three earned) over 4 1/3 innings while striking out seven and walking three. Ozzie Albies tallied a pair of hits and an RBI for Atlanta, which dropped its 11th game in 15 tries to begin the season.

Blue Jays 7, Orioles 6

Jeff Hoffman blanked Baltimore in the ninth and 10th innings to help visiting Toronto finish off its comeback victory and earn a split of the rain-shortened two-game series.

Hoffman (2-0) struck out back-to-back batters with the tying run on third base in the 10th inning to end the game. In the top of the 10th, Myles Straw beat out a slow roller to third off Matt Bowman (0-1) with runners on the corners and one out to give the Blue Jays a 7-6 lead.

Ernie Clement went 4-for-5 and scored twice, Alejandro Kirk homered, doubled and drove in two and Andres Gimenez had two hits and scored two runs for the Blue Jays. Ryan Mountcastle and Tyler O'Neill homered and Gunnar Henderson went 3-for-5 and scored two runs in the leadoff spot for the Orioles.

Cardinals 7, Phillies 0

Willson Contreras and Jordan Walker hit two-run homers to power host St. Louis past Philadelphia.

Nolan Arenado scored twice and drove in two runs as the Cardinals won their first series against the Phillies since the 2017 season. Matthew Liberatore (1-1) limited the Phillies to three hits in his six innings. He struck out seven and walked one.

Phillies starter Zack Wheeler (1-1) allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings. He struck out three and walked one. Bryce Harper provided one of the Phillies' three singles and stole his fourth base of the year.

Astros 7, Angels 3

Hayden Wesneski recorded his first double-digit strikeout game and Isaac Paredes homered for the third time in as many games as host Houston claimed the rubber match of a three-game series against Los Angeles.

Wesneski (1-1) produced a quality start by allowing three runs on five hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts over six innings. The Angels socked three solo homers off Wesneski, who negated those long balls by completing his second consecutive start without issuing a free pass. Taylor Ward, Nolan Schanuel and Jorge Soler went deep for Los Angeles.

Following RBI singles from Cam Smith and Mauricio Dubon, Paredes registered the decisive blow in the bottom of the second. Paredes lined an elevated four-seam fastball from Angels starter Kyle Hendricks (0-1) into the left field seats for his third home run of the season and a 5-2 lead.

Mets 8, Athletics 0

Kodai Senga tossed seven scoreless innings and earned the win as New York beat the Athletics in the rubber game of a three-game interleague series in Sacramento, Calif.

Senga (2-1) gave up four hits and walked two while striking out four in the longest outing this season by a Mets pitcher and the longest start by Senga since Sept. 1, 2023. A.J. Minter and Max Kranick finished the Mets' third shutout of the season.

Luis Torrens had three hits and two RBIs for the Mets, who have won eight of 10. Former Mets pitcher Luis Severino (0-3) took the defeat for the Athletics, who have lost five of seven overall and are 2-7 at their new Sacramento home.

Twins 5, Tigers 1

Byron Buxton homered, doubled and scored twice as Minnesota salvaged the finale of a three-game series by topping Detroit in Minneapolis.

Edouard Julien also hit a solo homer for the Twins while Ty France had two hits and an RBI. Minnesota starter Simeon Woods Richardson (1-1) gave up one run on five hits with five strikeouts in five innings. Louis Varland, Cole Sands, Griffin Jax and Jhoan Duran each tossed an inning of scoreless relief.

Spencer Torkelson had a solo homer for the Tigers. Casey Mize (2-1) gave up four runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Diamondbacks 5, Brewers 2

Josh Naylor had two hits, including a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning, as Arizona came back to beat visiting Milwaukee.

Corbin Carroll, who has reached base in all 16 games this season, collected two hits and scored twice, including the go-ahead run in the seventh, as Arizona won the rubber match of the three-game series. Starter Zac Gallen gave up two runs on five hits in six innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta gave up two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings with four walks and six strikeouts. Bryan Hudson (0-1) allowed the go-ahead run in the seventh. Contreras, who delivered a two-run homer in the first, and Brice Turang notched two hits apiece for the Brewers.
