New Orleans Saints star receiver Michael Thomas was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers due to a high ankle sprain.
It will be the second straight game that Thomas will miss.
The 27-year-old Thomas injured the ankle late in the Saints' opening-game win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 13.
The club decided against placing Thomas on injured reserve, a move which would have required him to miss three games.
The Saints have missed Thomas, who led the NFL in both receptions (single-season-record 149 catches) and receiving yards (1,725) in 2019.
He caught only three passes for 17 yards in Week 1. The three receptions tied his career low for a single game, with the 17 yards his second-lowest single-game mark.
Thomas, a three-time Pro Bowl selection and the league's 2019 offensive player of the year, has racked up 1,000 or more receiving yards in all four prior seasons since being drafted in the second round in 2016 out of Ohio State.
New Orleans also ruled out linebacker Chase Hansen (hip) for the game against Green Bay.
Four players are listed as questionable: Defensive end Marcus Davenport (elbow), defensive end Trey Hendrickson (groin), running back Ty Montgomery (hamstring) and defensive tackle David Onyemata (calf).
